Bleaching
Bright Smiles with Whiter TeethAt our state-of-the-art dental practice specializing in aesthetic dentistry, we focus not only on maintaining the health of your teeth but also on enhancing the overall appearance of your smile. As people age, tooth color tends to darken naturally. If you desire a more radiant smile with beautifully white teeth, your dentist in Freising is happy to provide a personalized consultation on teeth whitening options.
In addition to the natural discoloration of enamel over time, stubborn stains can develop that professional cleanings alone may not remove. Common causes include tobacco use and staining foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, and red wine.
How Bleaching Works
Teeth whitening can be performed either in our clinic (in-office bleaching) or at home (home bleaching). In-office treatments allow the use of stronger whitening agents compared to at-home methods. Due to faster results and the controlled environment, we typically recommend undergoing the procedure in our practice.
During in-office bleaching, your gums are first protected with a barrier (rubber dam). The whitening gel is then applied directly to your teeth and activated with a special UV light to maximize its effectiveness. After 15 to 45 minutes, the gel is removed. To enhance the whitening effect, the treatment can be repeated one or two times during the same session.
If you prefer whitening your teeth at home, we take precise impressions of your teeth to create custom-fit trays for home bleaching. You take these trays home and fill them with a lower-concentration bleaching gel. Depending on the severity of your stains, the trays should be worn for periods ranging from one to eight hours multiple times until the desired brightness is achieved.
